Ceremony of Mandu Hydropower Limited Successfully held in Kathmandu for The Handover of the company & the Launch of New Projects

On November 17,2019, the handover ceremony of Mandu Hydropower Co., Ltd., (hereinafter ‘Mandu’), a joint venture controlled by Sichuan Hechuan Investment Co., Ltd.(hereinafter ‘Hechuan’), the subsidiary of Shuifa Huaxia Group,and the launching ceremony of a new project were successfully held in Kathmandu, Nepal. Mr.Liu Jianxin, chairman of Hechuan, Mr.Tian Jiayuan, general manager of Hechuan, Mr. Maheshwor Prakash Shrestha ,chairman of Mandu ,and staff representatives of Mandu attended the handover ceremony. For Hechuan, the success of the ceremony marks the management of Bagmati hydropower project, and Mandu as well, entered into a substantial operation stage,also a new mileage for Huaxia Group in Nepal.
Mandu is the the first joint venture of Huaxia, even Shuifa Group, in Nepal. It has 40 employees, among them 37 are Nepalese.The investment of the company of Bagmati Hydropower Project successfully achieved commercial operation on April 2,2019. As of November 17,the cumulative power generation volume was up to 62.304 GWh. This project is an active response of Shuifa Group to the ‘Belt and Road’ Initiative,and also an important project participating in the building of the South Asia Land Route (connecting China’s Tibet and South Asian Countries). It is the first hydropower project invested by China-funded enterprises in Nepal and the only project of hydropower which completed construction on time. The successful commercial operation of Bagmati hydropower project helped Shuifa group to get profit in foreign currency abroad and has greatly enhanced the Shuifa Group ’s reputation in Nepal, setting a model for China-funded enterprises to invest in Nepal.
Chairman Liu said that, after Hechuan took over mandu ,we will improve Mandu's market competitiveness, to set a good example for Shuifa group’s following project in Nepal,and also through the project construction to build a indestructible bridge of friendship and a broad economic belt between China and Nepal. Mr. Maheshwor Shrestha said the success of Bagmati is inseparable from the support of technology, capital and equipments which provided by China, and the success of the project is not only the success of Hechuan and Mandu, but also a successful model of investment cooperation between China and Nepal. It strengthened his confidence to continue cooperation with Hechuan.
During the ceremony , Rahughat Mangale Hydropower Project (installed capacity 35.5 MW) and Upper Rahughat Hydropower Project (installed capacity 48.5 MW) were launched as well. The former has already completed financial closure on 14 November 2019 and is expected to start construction formally in December 2019.
